I am Nancy Brim, a part-time teacher at Foothills Regional High School – Jackson in Jefferson, Georgia. Before that, I taught at East Jackson Comprehensive High School. I taught Earth Systems, Physical Science, Honors Biology, and General Chemistry at East Jackson.
Before coming to East Jackson, I taught at Lakeside High School in DeKalb County for 19 years teaching AP Chemistry, Gifted Chemistry, Accelerated Chemistry, General Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Test Prep.
Before that I taught for six years at DeKalb’s Miller Grove Junior/Middle School teaching Physical Science, Survey Physical Science, Earth Science, and Integrated Science.
I attended Sewanee: The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I then attended San Jose State and received a Master of Arts in Secondary Education with an emphasis on science. I later became certified as a National Board Certified Teacher in 2004 and successfully renewed in 2014.
I am involved in the Georgia Science Teachers Association, the state science teacher’s organization. I have served as secretary, secondary representative, vice-president, and currently I am the Executive Secretary/Treasurer and run the conference store for the annual GSTA conferences held in February around the state. The 2024 conference will be in Columbus at the convention center February 22-23. You can access the GSTA website here.
I am also involved with Camp Juliette Low, a place I have been attending since 1979. I have been a camper, unit counselor, unit leader, ropes course director, pool director, CIT director, and currently serve as a co-director (since 1994).
